Hi I am Kimi. I was born and raised in Japan. Now, I am the wife of Michael and the artistic brain of Hood Artistry. We love creating art with photography. In this technological era, all posts we make on social media are flushed away almost instantly. It is so sad. I often think about how we can leave family treasures, not just snap shots but something with love, to our family members. When I found our great grand parents' album in my parents house, I was totally fascinated with the love sent from almost 100 years ago at the time. I would love for your families to experience that in the future. I also love meeting people, getting glimpses into the history of their life and exploring the artistic side of that through details, emotion and story. I think the interest is driving me to create our Hood Artistry. I have been photographing as a professional since 2006 including the time I worked as a photojournalist for newspapers and a magazine in Japan and the US. I will photograph your life and emotions with dreamy, fantasy, and whimsical essence. Let's meet and talk about your session!

Hiya! I'm Michael (or Mike for short, or Mai for even shorter..) I grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles and after way too many days choking on the smog and dying from heat I escaped to the lush NW. I started the endless venture of photography after seeing Ansel Adams' amazing work. Playing with film and prism viewfinders I quickly starved for more and have since gone from landscape chasing to portrait light sculpting with cool high tech gear. While I'm certainly steeped in tech, it's all for achieving the artistic classical look that really inspires me. Some portraits, painted or photographed, just have a magnetism and mystery that capture the viewers attention and draw them in. That's the kind of art I wish to create with Hood Artistry.
